Health Canada's "CRC" Products & Prohibitions

As of January 1, 2021, a new regulation has been implemented federally as per Canada's VPLPR (Vaping Products Labelling and Packaging Regulations), pursuant to the TVPA (Tobacco and Vaping Products Act), which requires all toxic liquid-containing (and contacting) hardware sold within Canada to be registered or compliant with CRC (Child-Resistant Container) regulations, as per the CCCR2001 and its requirements for such containers of toxic chemicals (such as liquid nicotine).

This affects not only the bottles that e-liquid products are sold in, but also the hardware that is refilled with said liquids, including (but not limited to), clearomizers, tanks, rebuildable tank atomizers (RTA), rebuildable dripping atomizers (RDA), and bottom feed (BF) atomizers.

Because the process to get a product tested and certified for sale in Canada is quite expensive, many small batch manufacturers (particularly in the high end vaping market) have no interest in going through the process and expense to get their product certified for the Canadian market, when Canada is the only country in the world that has such requirements. Further, as Canada represents only a very small single-digit percentage in total global sales in the high end vaping scene, it makes very little sense for these boutique manufacturers to go through the CRC process.

As a result, there currently does not exist any rebuildable atomizer options on the market, nor does there appear to be any to serve the enthusiast vaping scene in Canada in the near future. Any such products that you do see on our website, are reserved for international export sale only, and cannot be sold within Canada. Attempts to purchases these items, will result in these items being cancelled from your order, or having your entire order cancelled, if it is determined that your order is destined within Canada.

However, there DOES exist some limited options available, as there is an allowance for replacement parts and replaceable coils. Using this definition, this allow Vapes by Enushi to sell CRC-compliant tanks (which all accept factory-made replaceable coils) along with rebuildable coils that replace the disposable factory coils. So, rather than use the replaceable coils the tank was designed for, some of these products would be able to use an RBA (Rebuildable Base Atomizer) instead, allowing vapers to get rebuildable capabilities to not only save money on the coils, but also reduces landfill clutter while allowing enthusiasts to fine-tune the quality of their vape. At the same time, the containment tank still complies with Canada's CRC regulations.

If you would like to discuss options to find a solution that might work for your needs, do not hesitate to contact us, and we will see if we can guide you towards a product that is suitable for you.
